Why should I care about my money?

Cat life is rough

Cat life is rough

Wouldn’t it be nice to live life as a cat?

Stay with me, I have a point, I promise!

As a cat, you get to sleep when you want. Eat when you want (assuming you are well loved by a nice family). You probably have some toys to play with and soft blankets to lay on.

And you don’t care one darn bit about money or budgeting.

Yes, it would be nice to live in ignorant bliss and ignore any money problems.

But odds are, if you’re reading this, you may realize you need to change something. Ignoring a problem generally doesn’t help it go away or get resolved.

You’re reading this because something is nagging at you. Something about your financial situation doesn’t sit quite right with you.

Or maybe you just like to see my cat and food posts (I do love both!).

You realize that you need to care about your money.

But, let’s be honest, wouldn’t it be easier to just live your life like our cat friend and let your money do…well, whatever it is that money does?

You might think that living this way is easier than facing whatever financial challenges you have today. And while that might be true, it probably will be easier in the short term, will this take your towards where you’d ultimately like to be in life?

Take a minute to ask yourself if you are living your ideal life. If you could paint any picture of your life, would your financial situation look different? If not, you probably don’t need this! If there are some things you would like to change, keep reading!

Do you have dreams of owning a home, helping your kids through college, or retiring to a cabin on a lake someday? If you have any sort of bigger dreams for yourself and your family, odds are, they will cost some amount of money. And without any sort of plan, those dreams are just that – dreams and wishes that are relying on hope to come true.

Let’s face it, if you are struggling with some financial challenges – debt, overspending, underearning – how did you get here in the first place? Perhaps by ignoring the problem?

The bottom line is, if there are things about your finances you would like to change, then you should care about your money. If you want to be in a different place with your money, you should care.

Until you take the time to focus some effort towards this area of your life, you most likely won’t make any great progress.

You must take ownership of where you currently are, shine a light on everything (think of it as getting financially naked, if you will!) and decide how to move forward.

Are you ready to move your financial future forward?
